Alison was born in Nottingham (with her twin
sister Sally!). Alison attended Bramcote Hills Grammar School.
She completed her Law degree at Reading University before
returning to Nottingham for her law finals.
Alison worked
in London from 1986, training with Le Brasseurs, a specialist
defendant clinical negligence firm. Since qualifying in
1988 Alison has represented Claimants, specialising in clinical
negligence, inquests and personal injury cases.
Alison was an associate
with Stewarts Solicitors and after a locum position with
Leigh Day & Co embarked on a round
the world trip. Alison joined Kingsley Napley as a partner
in 1995 where she remained for 6 years. Alison finally
returned to her home town of Nottingham in September 2001
and was delighted to join Barratts as a Partner.
Alison
is involved with pro-bono work for charities and has
been Secretary of the United Kingdom Acquired Brain Injury
Forum (UKABIF) and Headway North West London. She is Governor of Rutland House School in Nottingham which provides education and support for children with special needs, Alison has spoken
at conferences in the UK and Australia, and appeared on local BBC news and radio.
Alison is one
of the few solicitors who are members of both the Personal
Injury and Clinical Negligence Panels of the Law Society.
Alison is also a panel member of Action Against Medical
Accidents ("AvMA"). She has successfully handled
complex, high value claims, including numerous cerebral palsy
cases and has represented clients both in the UK and abroad.
