Steve's Story
During the course of his employment Steve was driving his fork lift truck at his place of work. Whilst reversing the vehicle a loose metal plate on the floor caught the wheel of the forklift causing the wheel to move sharply. The knob attached to the steering wheel struck Steve's hand. He developed extensive bruising on the palm of the right hand extending into the forearm. There was a 1cm laceration on the palm. He suffered a dislocation injury to the ring finger metacarpal phalangeal joint.
Five months after the accident he was still suffering from an aching discomfort over the ring finger, particularly when attempting to lift anything heavy. He also experienced occasional discomfort when driving. The injury resolved entirely within 8 months of the accident. Mike received £2500 compensation.
