Greg's Story
Greg was employed as a long distance HGV driver and employed by a haulage company. On arriving at his destination, he opened the curtains to the trailer in order to empty the load. As he was doing this, two heavy bales of insulation fibre which had become dislodged fell off the back of the trailer pinning him to the ground and crushing him.
Lucky to be alive, Greg suffered serious soft tissue injuries to his back and legs. He required very considerable help and support from his wife before eventually getting back on his feet. However, he was never able to return to work.
We investigated this matter and it transpired that the trailer which Greg had picked up from a customer had been incorrectly loaded and the bales had not been properly secured. This fact was eventually accepted by the customer’s insurers who agreed to pay Greg’s claim in full.
