Alan's Story
Barratt, Goff & Tomlinson's reputation has meant that they have received instructions to pursue claims on behalf of British Nationals injured overseas, and also Foreign Nationals injured in this country. We currently represent clients in Canada, United States of America, South Africa and New Zealand. We have recently received instructions from Alan, a native of the Netherlands Antilles. Although born on the Caribbean island of Aruba, Alan was living in Sint Maarten in the Netherlands Antilles when, in December 1990 he was mistakenly shot in the leg by the police. An entirely innocent victim he sought treatment in the Caribbean but was eventually referred to the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore Middlesex, such were the severity of his injuries. Following this he remained in the United Kingdom.
Alan was recommended to this firm by an advice worker in his local area. It transpired that he had instructed Lawyers both in the Netherlands Antilles and in this country but neither firm were able to resolve his claim. We accepted his instructions and after much investigation we managed to obtain Judgment for him against the Government of the Netherlands Antilles for damages to be decided.
We are now obtaining expert medical reports to substantiate Alan's claim for damages and these will be submitted to the Government of the Netherlands Antilles in due course when we hope to be able to negotiate a settlement. |
