Born Fort Victoria, Rhodesia. Attended Skegness
Grammar School. Read Law at Cambridge University obtaining
Honours degree in 1979 before taking the solicitors final
examinations at the College of Law, Guildford.
Jill trained with Wells & Hind in Nottingham (now Eversheds)
and upon qualification in 1982 joined Day Boot & Stone.
Day Boot & Stone merged with Howes Percival in 1986 and
on 1st January 1987 Jill became the first female partner
in the firms 200 year history and was appointed managing
partner of the Nottingham office.
In 1991 Jill was one of the founding partners of Barratt
Goff & Tomlinson. She has undertaken personal injury
work since qualifying and has specialised exclusively in
personal injury for very many years, particularly major
spinal and brain injury cases and claims resulting from fatalities and claims involving uninsured drivers.
Jill was one of the first members of the national organisation of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) and is now an accredited APIL fellow
Outside of work Jill's
interests include family, food and running around on a tennis court!
