Alison Brooks

I started working on Clinical Negligence cases over 25 years ago ( I hardly dare mention how long) ! This was at a time when few solicitors handled Clinical Negligence claims. My training with a Defendant firm in London stood me in good stead when I qualified as a solicitor. However, I chose to represent Claimants and returned to my home town of Nottingham in 2001. I have not looked back since!

It was easy to settle into Barratts; the service and approach to clients reflected the high standards I have always offered clients. I deal with all types of Clinical Negligence claims but my main specialism is acting on behalf of children who have suffered injury at birth. I also represent families at inquests.

I recognise that I am meeting clients during a very difficult time in their lives. Helping to get the answers they are looking for and supporting clients during these times never stops being rewarding. I feel privileged to be able to help clients improve their lives whilst combining my skills as a solicitor.

I am involved with pro-bono work for charities and, because of my work with cerebral palsy clients, was honoured to be invited to be a Governor for Rutland House School in Nottingham, which provides education and support for children with special needs. I was a former Secretary of the United Kingdom Acquired Brain Injury Forum (UKABIF) and Headway North West London. My work has taken me to Australia and to less glamorous parts of the UK! I have also appeared on local BBC news and radio.

I continue to campaign for access to justice and will fight to ensure clients are properly advised, having frequently succeeded in cases which have not been pursued by other solicitors.

I am only able to reach the highest standards in my work because of the support from Chris, who has been my assistant for 10 years. Chris is highly experienced and sensitive to clients' needs.
