Christine's Story
Christine worked as a self-employed Podiatrist. One winter’s day she went to her local service station to fill up the car with petrol. As she got out of the car she slipped on a large pool of black ice adjacent to the petrol pump. She had not noticed this when driving in to the service station and no warnings were present. It became apparent that this particular service station suffered badly with black ice deposits.
Our investigations revealed that their housekeeping systems were inadequate to deal with this. Christine suffered with ongoing back problems. We pursued Court proceedings on her behalf following which the garage owners accepted responsibility for her injuries. We also persuaded them to offer Christine rehabilitation so as to assist her in returning to work as speedily as possible.
We obtained expert medical evidence to substantiate the extent of her injuries. The garage’s insurer’s experts tried to suggest that the injuries were all in existence before the accident and had merely been made worse by it. By careful examination of Christine’s medical history and the proper instruction of our own medical experts we were able to refute these suggestions so that Christine was able to recover full compensation for the effects of the accident.
